Kamala’s cowardly and clueless appearance on Meet the Press

After watching Vice President Kamala Harris on Meet the Press this Sunday, the mystery isn’t why 53% of the public view her unfavorably, it’s why the other 47% don't join them.

Let’s set aside her refusal to answer host Chuck Todd’s question, “What is a semi-fascist?” It was her answer to the follow-up question that was downright cowardly. Asked if the Democratic Party is “making a mistake” by funding ads to promote election deniers, Harris replied, “I’m not going to tell people how to run their campaigns.”

Harris had just spent the previous minute calling election deniers “very harmful” and “very dangerous.” Then, given the chance to condemn those that elevate the views of election deniers, suddenly, she doesn’t want to take a position. Either defend the practice or condemn it. You can’t hold yourself out to be a future leader of the party and then refuse to take a position on how fellow Democrats should run their campaigns.

Todd then asked Harris why she has flip-flopped on supporting the legislative filibuster. In 2017, she said she was for the filibuster; now, she says she is against it, but only for the issues of “voting rights” and abortion. Asked if she really believes that Democrats could get rid of the legislative filibuster, but only for those two issues, Harris said, “That is very likely, yes.”

Come on. No one who is even passingly familiar with the Senate believes the legislative filibuster can be repealed only for certain issues. Just last year, Democrats were saying they would only repeal the filibuster for "voting rights." Now that Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization has overturned Roe v. Wade, Democrats already want to double their list of non-filibuster issues. Is there any possible way it ends there? Once one issue is too important for the filibuster, every issue will end up being just as important.

If you want to end the filibuster, end the filibuster. But don’t pretend you are only doing it for one or two issues — that's just silly.

Harris then finished her amazing performance by claiming the southern border is secure. Reminded by Todd that over two million people have been caught illegally crossing the border, Harris repeated her claim that “we have a secure border.”

Just this year, over 500,000 migrants have successfully crossed the border illegally without being caught by the Border Patrol. Deaths are at an all-time high. Cartels are making over a billion dollars a year smuggling migrants across the border.

And Harris calls that “secure." Mmmm hmm.

The reality is that the southern border is a disaster, and everyone knows it. More than half call it an “invasion.” Harris only makes herself look hopelessly out of touch by insisting the border is secure when everyone knows it isn’t. No wonder only 39% of Americans view her favorably.
