Gas prices today: Where to find the cheapest fuel across the country


The change in gas prices from day to day is something most people are forced to deal with.

As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the mind of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Thursday is $3.584, up from $3.581 on Wednesday but down from $3.589 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.484, up from $3.472 on Wednesday. One week ago, the price was $3.447.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.344, below the national average. The price was $3.347 on Wednesday and $3.350 last week at this time.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.752, higher than the national average. On Wednesday, it was $3.738, and one week ago, it was $3.688.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is well above the national average at $4.859, four cents less than Wednesday. One week ago, it was $4.880.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.697, the same price as Wednesday. Last week, it was $3.691.

The average price in Texas sits well below the national average at $3.214, compared with $3.173 the day before and $3.139 the week before.
