Biden's approval rating hits a new low as his age keeps going up

President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign continues to show cracks in its foundation as Democrats remain committed to barreling ahead with an incoherent 80-year-old candidate.

Biden’s approval rating has hit a new low, according to Pew Research Center, with just 35% of people approving of his job performance. His disapproval is now at 62%, tied for its highest mark during his presidency. He is underwater with men, women, and people of every age group by anywhere from -25 points to -30 points.

TRUMP HAS NO PLAN TO WIN IN 2024

Safe to say that those aren’t exactly winning numbers.

On top of that, Republicans have voters’ trust on three of the four issues that voters rank as the biggest problems facing the country: the economy, crime, and the federal budget deficit. Meanwhile, Democrats are already raising concerns about Biden’s fundraising numbers, and two non-serious candidates are eating up the support of around 25% of Democratic primary voters.

The fact remains that Democrats like Biden, but they do not like the idea of Biden being president for another term. A Monmouth University poll in March found that Democrats had a favorable view of Biden 74%-14%, but 44% wanted him not to run again and another 30% didn’t really care whether he did or not. Biden’s numbers over the past several months have been a beacon for serious potential Democrat candidates to enter the race. The only question is if any of them ever decide to follow it.

Meanwhile, Biden’s one and only bit of positive news is the continued presence of former President Donald Trump, who remains the only candidate that would not be able to attack Biden over his age and the only candidate that Biden continues to run ahead of in swing states. If Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) begins to pull ahead in the GOP primary, his age and his poll numbers (which are above Biden in states such as Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania) would likely mark the end of Biden’s 2024 chances.

Biden has the advantage of being the incumbent president, and yet he is running on fumes. Voters don’t like the job he is doing and even the Democrats who do don’t want to run it back for another four years. It’s not a problem he can really fix, because he’s only going to get older in the coming months. Apparently, Democrats are still convinced that he is the best they have to offer, even though it’s an offer everyone wants to decline.
